It's working!

I have exciting news. Well, it is exciting if you live in this house. It is exciting if your name is Erik. Finally after 13 years of marriage, I have established a laundry routine that seems to be working. Laundry has been a problem. We have always lived with huge piles. Dirty piles. Clean piles. Piles Piles Piles. It was never ending! We would have to dive into the clean clothes pile to find clothes to wear. We would have to run to Target because we cannot find clean socks. It was all stressful and took a lot of time.
I now feel it is safe to go public with my laundry goals (this system has worked for 3 weeks). Each person has their own bin..and I wash one bin a day plus their bedding. Towels have their own bin. No more combining all the dirty laundry into one HUGE mountain that will never be conquered. Now we have simple piles. This is probably how all you normal laundry people already do it...but it is revelation to me :) Next step: each person washes and puts away their own bin. Dare I dream?

Wait--YOU? Piles of laundry??? I'm shocked! :)

Your system sounds great. I hope it works out perfectly for you! I think it's a great idea to have your kids do their own... I am so not there yet, but you let me know how it goes.

Yay for you! But I wouldn't hold my breath for everyone doing their own... my brothers are 24, and one practically lives with his girlfriend, and my Mum still does all of their laundry... :-)

That's a great system. I'm still doing the unconquerable cumulative family pile. It's a horrible job. I am going to try doing it your way. You're an inspiration!

Sounds like a great plan and teaching great life skills at the same time. Way to go!

Fabulous! Congratulations, Cathy. I remember those days when daily loads of laundry were a must. The good news for me is that I'm down to 2-4 loads a week, so there's an end in sight!
